Some rare crossover (Free-)Jazz/Funk albums scratched off the want-list. Fonally found two albums from the great Black Jazz label (“Henry Franklin-The Skipper” and “Cleveland Eaton - Plenty Good Eaton”) and another great one from “Larry Young - Lawrence of Newark”. Thanks @latebloomer201 for bringing the latter one with you to the Netherlands🙏🏽

Artist: Pearl Jam.
"‘Backspacer’ holds a special place in my heart. I bought the record back in September 2019, as soon as it was released. Three years had past since Pearl Jam’s last release. I bought it in anticipation to my first Pearl Jam concert in 2011. However, I never imagined this record would help me get through probably the worst days of my life. In November 2009, my mum had an aneurysm on her brain which burst and caused her a stroke. She went into emergency surgery and remained hospitalized for 2 weeks (one week under intensive care). During that time my world fell apart, I was depressed, got worried sick and thought I was going to lose her. However, the song ‘Just Breathe’ gave me calm and made me understand that ‘every life must end’ and ‘as we sit along I knew someday we must go’, it prepared me for whatever plans God held for her. Thank god, in the end my mum not only survived but recovered 100%. The song ‘Just Breathe’ taught me to be grateful for each day of life, made me realise how lucky I was ‘to count on both hands the ones I love’. That song not only helped me get through tough times but taught me the greatest lesson in life: to cherish each day of life because you never know what lies ahead..." Thanks to @no.music.no_life for this fantastic Vinyl Chapter.

I visited Asheville, NC the other day and went to the city's three main record stores. I was lucky to find this copy at the last shop I visited, @static_age_record_store. For those who didn't score a copy, or just want to hear it, the album is getting a wide release on July 19th.
Thanks to @ne1_records for reminding me I needed to spin this synth classic. I was lucky enough to bag the tri-colour version from Transmission records when it was released. It’s one of the rarer records in my collection as the run was only 100 copies and limited to countries outside of the USA.
Sinoai Caves aka Jeremy Schmidt of Black Mountain has done such a stellar job of this soundtrack. For those not in the know, this is the score to “Beyond The Black Rainbow” a heady sci-fi horror of subdued and drug filled oddness. Directed by Panos Cosmatos more famous for “Mandy” and “Tombstone”. If you haven’t heard this brilliant record then you owe it to yourself to find it (loads of other pressings about) and give it a listen.
