We finally got one of these designs photographed but the rest are still on deck! Photo shoots are usually the last thing I get done to release a pattern, with my husband’s busy schedule and the fact that we have to bring the kids along, we tend to put this part of the process off... Pictured here are 3 sweaters (on the bottom) coming over the next couple of months and 3 secret designs (on top) coming later this year! ✌️💛 Happy Thursday friends!
#yarnlovechallenge Day 21: Earliest Yarn Memory
As a kid, my mom would begrudgingly take me to the local big box craft store for me to pick out (in hindsight) terribly overpriced, acrylic eyelash yarns for me to clumsily crochet clothes for my handsewn monster bears. Knitting and crochet weren't really big in Malaysia growing up, and it was only in the last handful of years that I was introduced to the yarn community.
Four years ago, I was dealing with a lot of issues with depression and a chronic health condition. My now-husband, then-boyfriend thought it might be a great idea to bundle me off with some of his work friends who were going on a "yarn trip". Now, bear in mind, I've never knitted as an adult, I've never even met these friends, and social interactions were really hard for me at that point. 😬
But it turned out to be an amazing trip! I later found out that it was an annual thing called Roving Indiana, and that there was more to yarn than eyelash yarn in Barbie pink. I learned how to knit a hat in the round in the backseat of a crowded little hatchback using some new all-wool yarn that I had purchased. The hat ended up being too small to wear and had too many holes to be warm, but this trip is definitely one of my favorite yarn memories. We'll be going on another Roving Indiana trip next weekend, which will then mark my 4-year knitting anniversary!
Photo is from my first trip, which was before I learned how to take proper photos. 🤷🏻♀️
It’s been a week since publishing my When Rain Falls shawl pattern and I’m so thankful for all the love it’s received! If you’re knitting one, please tag me so I can see it 🧶
Thank you Angie @piazadorasghost for being such an amazing model!
