NEW YORK INSTABLOG PART 1|
Hey guys, following my recent trip to New York, I've decided to do a little instablog for you all, sharing some of my experiences and tips.
I have been wanting to go to New York from as long as I can remember, so I am grateful for finally being able to visit with my husband and ticking it off my list!
If you're planning to go for the first time, the one word of advice I'd give to you is "prioritise". This is not one of those trips where you "wing it", no no no, you need to plan everything if you want to make the absolute most out of your time there. Do your research, make a list, and make a rough plan of what you really want to see and do. Even if you're not an itinerary kind of girl, trust me, make one to loosely follow and always leave a little scope for last minute changes! (We had unexpected rain on a few days and had to move things around.)
OK so, how long should you go for? Truth is, it's impossible to explore everything in the space of a week, but I'd say a week is a good amount of time. We stayed there for 6 nights, and we both feel like one more day would have been perfect!
When we travel to new places we like to explore the local areas, we do the main touristy things, but we skip the ones that don't excite us, and use that time to explore different areas instead ( this is my most favourite part of each trip). 💡TIP : Get the unlimited 7 day subway pass - you'll need it!
OK so, I've summed up some of the mainstream places I'd recommend visiting in no particular order :
1. The Upper East Side and The Met Steps- being a huge GG fan, this had to be our first stop!! I was soo excited to be there. We both didn't fancy visiting the actual Museum but I got my iconic pictures and then we set off to stroll around the Upper East Side and I loved every minute of it.
2. New York Public Library - this place was breathtaking. I wish I had the luxury of spending an afternoon here reading the books and admiring the ceilings.
3. Grand Central Station - this was the most "grand" train stain I've ever seen. Everything was just so beautiful, the main ceiling being a work of art and ofcourse I had to capture another GG moment! 😉
