Can I get real for a second? Too bad, I’m gonna get real whether you read this caption or not. These photos were taken on the same day, same evening actually. The first photo was before my mood crashed. The first photo was before a depressive episode hit me like a tidal wave. The first photo, I was excited and happy. I was going to go see my boyfriend, who means the world to me. The second photo is after I started drowning in the symptoms of trauma and bipolar disorder. You see, I think a lot of people see me as bubbly, optimistic and friendly. And you know what? I am those things! But there is a whole other side of me. The side of me that only a few people have seen glimpses of. There is exhausting, relentless fighting behind the bright smile I give you. This post is not meant to make you feel bad for me, give me your sympathy or think I’m in danger. This post is to show you that I am strong. I want everyone (especially those who struggle with mental illness themselves) to know that you can cope. I want you to know that your mental illness doesn’t have to stop you from living the life you want. I want you to know that although some nights I suffocate in my own head, there are many good days. And I want you to know that I am not a stranger to struggle, and I will understand how you feel. If you need someone to talk you down from the ledge or just need a friend, my door is always open.
BODY UPDATE/PROGRESS 💪🏼
I just want to say how un-important the number on the scales is & how consistency & time is key!! There are 4 months between these photos (sep 2018 - jan 2019) but only a couple kg’s difference!
I started a major lifestyle change in September last year with the beautiful @laurensullivanfitness while I was living in Hamilton. I’ve continued on with Lauren since moving back down south & although there’s been many things get in the way (travelling/unsettled/moving around) I’ve tried my best to stay consistent! There were days/weeks I completely fell off the wagon but Lauren has taught me to accept, reflect & grow from it and that’s exactly what I’ve done and how I’ve got to where I am now.. you don’t need to be perfect, nobody is!! You just have to accept the times you eat bad or don’t exercise (you’re only human) - reflect on why it has happened - and grow from there! Honestly over these last couple months I have doubted if I’ve made any progress but looking back on these pics definitely shows that I have! I’ve grown so much, my mind set has changed and I’ve adapted these things into a lifestyle not just a fad or phase! My mind is strong, my heart is strong & my body is strong. I’ve never felt so good before and I can not wait to continue to learn & grow & just be the healthiest happiest me I can be!!! 😁 this is just my beginning!!😌🙌🏼💪🏼 also have to give a major shout out to Lauren for being my number one supporter on this journey!! Lots of love & appreciation for you gf!!💞
After a slight *situation* (involving going over the handle bars on a mountain bike down a hill 🏔 🚲), so great to see @el_burt0 making progress. Unable to strict press 10 days ago... he has now quickly moved past the stick, to 5, 10 and 20kg. Bring on the #comeback! 💪🏋🏻♂️
In a world where we are
Embodying a human vessel
We are met with much turbulence,
But also so much ease.
I believe life is simple,
If you wish it to be
If you want it to be.
This human life
Is the embodiment of
All elements and emotions
To the extent that we allow
Ourselves to feel.
Let it be fun,
Let it be great.
It comes from that feeling
When we expand and grow.
Progressing who we are in human form
In a way that only we can define.
We are on to week numbero FOUR of 2019 and I’m still out here trying to accomplish those #newyearsresolutions 💯
I’ve been religiously doing assisted pull-ups 3-4x a week and am trying to grow these lats to help me get 5 consecutive pull-ups!! *added bonus: bigger lats give the illusion of a smaller waist and I’m here for thaaaat.* Today my fav gym pal (@morganlembo) and I tried lots of new back workouts and I’m so esssited to share them with y’all!! PS I’m also doing everything in my power (writing this long caption) to avoid studying for my pharm test tomorrow 🙂🙃 THE #TWERKOUT:
1️⃣ 10 cable lat pulldowns SS with 2️⃣ 12 wide grib DB curls | x4
3️⃣ 10 wide grip seated row SS with 4️⃣ 12 V-bar pull downs (thank you @faithandfit for this #bomb combo!) | x4
5️⃣ 8 of these (idk what they’re called but notice how the bar goes horizontal at the top and more vertical the closer I get to my body) SS with 6️⃣ 8 single arm cable push downs | x4
7️⃣ AMRAP seated pull-ups SS with 8️⃣ 12 barbell rows (palms facing up) | x3
-on the seated pull-ups, my feet are elevated to take them out of the equation and force me to only use my upper body
So this is not easy for me to post and I feel vulnerable but I am so happy that I purchased a VERY AFFORDABLE skincare regimen from @rawskinco ... as you can see in the top two photos I recently developed some unknown dermatitis/eczema type thing and thanks to our healthcare system I can’t see a dermatologist for another two months and the walk in clinic didn’t know what to do for me. The bottom two photos are after only about a week of using a very pure grade of African Black soap in liquid form, rose water and very clean and purely produced Shea butter. These guys are the real deal and as a benefit I’m noticing fewer fine lines and overall my skin looks and feels better. I will surely be repurchasing and it’s all natural and smells delicious. I bought this set with my own money and I was not paid nor asked to post this it is my honest review. #progress#rawskinco
