McLaren commissioned a bespoke project to emulate the 570S GT4 race car, called "MSO X". The MSO X is virtually a race car for the street which has track-ready upgrades, including a functional roof snorkel, front dive planes, a titanium exhaust, P Zero Corsa tires, carbon fiber bodywork, and a big rear wing, which produces 220 pounds of downforce.

Remember when a debutant led a race for Spyker? You probably do, but I'll give you a picture of it anyway because it was a good day and is always worth remembering. A deluge of rain on Lap 1 at Nurburgring in 2007 led to a number of cars spinning off the circuit including Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Adrian Sutil (the team-mate of the man who would lead the race) and Scott Speed, who nearly hit a mobile crane on his trip through the gravel trap. The conditions became "undriveable" according to Nick Heidfeld, and likely everybody else on the track, so the Safety Car was brought out. However, before the race even started, Spyker technical chief Mike Gascoigne made an inspired call to bring Markus Winkelhock into the pits on the formation lap to switch onto full wet tyres. The gamble paid off brilliantly, as Markus was able to keep going strong while other cars were aquaplaning off the track, coming through to take the lead from Kimi Raikkonen halfway through the second lap and pulling away from the field, at one stage holding a 33 second lead. Despite this brilliant start, the Safety Car and subsequent red flag put paid to Winkelhock's chances of seriously challenging for victory. He was immediately swamped by Felipe Massa, Fernando Alonso and a gaggle of other cars into Turn 1 off the restart and went on to retire from the race, his only ever F1 appearance. But we'll forget about that last sentence and just remember that glorious moment when Markus Winkelhock led the race, on his debut, in the slowest car on the grid. 🏁🏁 | CREDITS: MOTORSPORT IMAGES |

On Wednesday 3rd July, we are hosting the annual Celebration of Speed and for the first time ever...the celebrations will be going on into the evening with a music concert in the Paddock.
