He never had the brakes...and he was shifting gears 🤠
I HATE learning lessons the hard way. I’ve built up most of my truck from small mistakes and general planning. SOME of my truck was built or put together because I fucked up. A winch, a compressor, armor. And they’ve served their purpose well. I even switched out the steering gears for an upgrade to Redheads unit.
But NOW! I just threw a way $2000 because I was too lazy to do research. To learn about my trucks gearing. People would ask what my gear ratio was and I’d just shrug and say “stock”. It’s 3.31.
Not anymore. After doing this recent trip with the trailer to Texas and back tomorrow, I started hearing a high-pitched whistle whenever I accelerated. I took the truck in to have it checked out and found out I broke the studs in my exhaust manifold due to high heat…because I pushed it too hard.
Thanks to my friend @code3offroad and Dave at @americanadventurist , I’ll be swapping it out for a 4.1 gear ratio.
It’s amazing what you learn when you pay for it...after.
