Diary Of The Tattooed Ballerina,
After a day of teaching boys hip hop and break dance yesterday. The muscles are sore but I think it’s time I explained why I’m still teaching but closed my dance studio. If you didn’t see... the last photo is my MRI. We haven’t wanted to publicly announce it yet because there are 30+ masses at the bottom of my spine. Which causes me chronic crippling pain on top of Endometriosis and POD. The “masses” are rapping around my nerves to a point my left leg is weakening and I need to gain strength. The next MRI is to see is these masses go up and into my brain. So there will be extremely hard times, where I can’t pull through as a good friend, can’t get out of bed and in chronic pain. But dance.... dance is my antidepressant! And they said I could never walk again if I continue dancing... well I’m willing to take that risk because I’m strong. I got this! I CAN do this. And Thankyou to my biker community you know who you are, for sticking around for helping along the way being my family. And I couldn’t do this without My Family, Tammie and Chris, my beautiful grandmother and last but not the least my husband @davidcollison1911. We’re going through this hard stage with my health but your in it for the long run. Your trying to provide a safe place for us to stay forever and grow a life and a family. I’m so lucky and in love with you even if we had nothing and hit rock bottom. I’ll still be by your side xxx Always Remember Us This Way 🖤16/11/2018 MRS AND MR COLLISION 🖤 #dance#danceschool#danceteacher#dancestudents#TattooedBallerina&co#tattoos#tattooedballerina#marilynmonroetribute#myidol#alternativegirl#gothgirl#elegance#birkdale#brisbane#queensland#australia#believeinyourself#bringon2019#husbandandwife#kingandqueen#tattooeddancecouple#beproudtobeyou#hiphopdance#justoutofhospital#beasoildernotawhinger#adifferentway
Dancers ability: self motivation 😎❤️
I taught these talented legends every week in the last two months. They are preparing to be teachers in Aus, doing the dance teaching certificate I already did
We started every day with a dance teaching theory class that involved annoying assessments. Then we used to pass trough ballet bases in the practical one ending up with different styles choreographies and a hard work out that can be challenging to live at the end of the day when the tiredness starts showing up (In case you don’t know, it is veeeery easy to feel tired in Sydney, this is a big, busy and expensive city!)
I understand it cause I lived it. When I arrived in Aus I was used to a very different type of training and a commercial urban / Latin dance so it was really hard getting back into an intense routine while understanding the world of technique: pointing feet, doing kicks, turns, plies, jumps, floor work, weight management, posture, etc... I practiced ballet all my childhood, but still was hard getting back into that at my late 20s with my 60s yo lady knees lol. .
Anyway, some of them are new in it and are doing the same process with me and they are so committed even knowing it involves a lot of energy, new sensations and demands a different type of body awareness. It Is challenging for all of us, we all learned a lot everyday.
But what impresses me the most is that after that long learning journey this is how they keep the energy (video) 😂I just love it.
✌🏾 It’s all about (self) motivation and keeping it fun. Don’t take your tiredness too serious. Even when the days are long and complicated, life stills short and simple. You just gotta breath and keep on going. Somehow, you’ll end up enjoying.

Today and for the rest of the dance season my students are going to recite this before and after class. It says: I am beautiful. I am brilliant. I am talented. With hard work, humility, and love, I can do anything. I love myself. // I saw a video a couple days ago that had the students of the class recite this and in my heart I felt that all my students needed to know this and speak this truth. Kids are growing up in a generation where they don’t know right from wrong OR they are confused about their gender and identity. I want to create a space where these kids can come and know they are loved and they can discover truths about themselves that society is trying to twist and morph into something sick.

I had the honour of working with multi talented, multi award winning, Miss Burlesque UK 2018 @the_amber_topaz and I really hope we get a chance to work together again at some point! Someone had mentioned they wanted to get into burlesque, I can’t remember Whois was but if you see this post then I’m sure Amber would help. She brought the Top hat 🎩 and tails and this idea popped into my head, came out perfectly 🤗#peterbspecial#peterbphotos#liveforthestory#londondancers#vintage#burlesque#cheeky#tushytuesday
