When I went though surgery 💉 11 years ago (before pursuing my current career as a Dietitian), I was furious when the surgeon told me that postop recovery meant NO exercise (and NO dance) 😤 for at least three weeks😵. Having no choice but to abide by this prescription left me anxious and fearful. 11 years later, I see this same post-op recovery as a time for OPPORTUNITY, and I’m taking advantage of every restful minute! 🛌🛋🧖🏼♀️
Giving our body time to rest is ESSENTIAL for long-term performance. Whether that means a weekly rest day (or 2, 3, whatever you need!) or few weeks/months off, use this time as an opportunity to repair👍🏻, rebuild💪🏻, and refuel🍌.
When it comes to flexibility we all wish we could be like a rubber band. If you not there yet don’t worry, neither are the majority of us. Here are some quick tips to help you improve your flexibility.
1. Always stretch when warm. This will prevent injuries and increase range of motion.
2. Never get Frustrated and stay consistent. Aren’t seeing results fast enough? It’s ok. It takes time don’t give up or get frustrated.
3. Push yourself in an good way. No pain. No gain. Stretching should always feel like “good” pain, don’t overdue it to “bad” pain. ✍🏼Final tip:
Don’t compare yourself to others!
Everyone is different and you’ll achieve different goals at different times.
