Had a chance to sit inside my next dream car today! It was not just your regular Bentley tho. First in the world armoured Bentayga. Well... Now I want to work even harder 😅 Half a mill won’t earn itself
Tonight we have a special treat, the Hongqi L5! The L5 is quite obviously Chinese, but what else is it?! I'm sure we're all eager to know more.
Well sorry folks, in true Chinese car fashion, I don't really know anything other than its name. They barely have a website, there's virtually no photos, and I came across a scant amount of information in my whopping 5 minute internet search.
But anyway...the Honqi is giant, beautiful, excellent, and totally ridiculous and terrible.
There's something about obscure attempts at creating good cars that absolutely fascinates me. I mean yeah, it looks great, but would you buy one? (We'll get to that in a couple paragraphs)
I mean sure it's nice, but only provided you've never actually seen a real car or live in a super isolated state....ehem china
I'm absolutely certain someone will argue that it's super high quality and such. And YES it has gorgeous wood work and jade accents (jade is highly prized in Chinese culture)
All this can really only go so far. It's like building a trailer house of marble. Yes it's high quality, but the design and execution are pure shit. Plus it will be so expensive that no one would buy it.
In all reality, it struggles to compete with an E Class. Yes, the quality is incredible, it looks amazing, and everything about is absolutely wonderful. But.... All that can only go so far. This car is laughable, and I'd still buy one if it weren't for the price...almost $1,000,000
Yes. ONE. MILLION. UNITED. STATES. DOLLARS. That's gonna be a hard pass
If it were cheaper than an E Class, sure. But no. It's more than a Rolls Royce. It's more than two rolls royces, both of which are way nicer, available in the US, and will probably hold value better. There are some other cars I'll post in my story. Comment if you know literally anything about this car!
Good client brought in his Bentley Continental to add some extra bass and asked that two full size suit cases still fit in the trunk. We added 2 Focal Kx2 12” subwoofer and 2 Focal Fdp1.900 amplifiers. Everything was drawn on a computer and laser cut for perfect fitment.
